THE TREASURES OF VILLA CARLOTTA
Villa Carlotta is a treasure chest with incredible treasures. As a matter of fact, it houses works of art of inestimable value: the most renowned of which being the Cupid and Psyche statue sculpted by Adamo Tadolini, a student of Canova, and the statues of Terpsichore and Palamedes, sculpted by Canova himself.
The villa itself is also an example of art and architecture of the highest level: the marble hall houses the Thorvaldsen's frieze that recounts the entrance of Alexander the Great to Babylon, the ceiling of the landscape museum is decorated by Lodovico Poglilaghi, the eighteenth-century ceilings of the top floor and, of course, the must-see garden and botanical garden, a living work of art.
