GET TO KNOW TREMEZZINA MORE CLOSELY
Like many other municipalities of Lake Como, Tremezzina was built in the Roman ages as a fishing village. It owes its name to that of the village called "Tramezzo" or "Framezzo", which was located on the commercial road that connected the Po Valley and the Rhine Valley.
Its geographical position played a key role in its development: as a matter of fact, Tremezzina is located halfway between Como and the end of the lake and it has a sheltered position, facing southeast, that protects it from the cold winds coming from the north and from the mountains.
It's by no coincidence that Tremezzina became a reference point for agriculture, focusing on the cultivation of olive trees, citrus fruits and mulberry trees.
