what to see in Cernobbio
Cernobbio (on lake Como) is a treasure chest of history, art and architecture. The historic villas and mansions are a must-see. Villa d'Este, built in late sixteenth century and owned, among others, by the wife of King George VI of England, Carolina Brunswick, Villa Bernasconi, an art nouveau-style villa that houses a museum and a wonderful park, Villa Erba, now a renowned convention centre, Casa Cattaneo, a rationalist building that stands out for the stark difference with the adjacent buildings.
For lovers of greenery instead, Giardino della Valle, a virtuous example of how a degraded place can be converted with care and love, is a must see. As a matter of fact, until a few decades ago, this botanical park was an illegal landfill. The redevelopment works were carried out by Ida Lonati Frati, a citizen of Cernobbio, who dedicated herself to reviving this place that today houses luxuriant essences and sculptures by Gio' Aramini.
But Cernobbio is much more than its villas. Sports and nature lovers can go trekking on Monte Bisbino and the Prealps or take part in water sports such as rowing or sailing.

Cernobbio's climate and weather
Cernobbio (lake Como) can be visited at any time of the year. Temperatures range from -2°C in winter to 30°C in the summer.
In winter, outdoor sports activities are limited compared to summer, but the beauty of architectural treasures and the magical Christmas atmosphere that can be felt in the village offer a spectacle not to be missed even in the coldest months, ideal for a romantic weekend in Europe.
Tourists, however, love to visit Cernobbio, in spring or summer, when you can enjoy to the fullest all the activities offered by the town and the warm Italian sun. The temperature in this period, thanks to the privileged position on the lake, is rather mild: between the beginning of June and mid-September the average recorded temperature is 22°C. The hottest month is July, when temperatures can reach up to 30°C.
